Cameron’s Big Idea

July 22, 2010

Last week, the PM delivered a speech outlining his new plan for Big Society. A dramatic new shakeup in policy that will redistribute power “from elites in Whitehall to the man and woman on the street.”

Isn’t this just the political equivalent of User Generated Content?

If it succeeds: you did all the work and we look good.

If it fails: it was your fault.

As all in the land of advertising will know, Cameron should be asking, is there really enough of a tangible reward in what he’ll let the voters own? If this grand new vision for the future fails to go viral, then we’re on our own, with cuts to the Public sector, and left with a government under-appreciative of the difficulty in delivering big ideas that truly travel.
