First the Whopper, now Ga Ga.

November 29, 2010

Popstars are the latest currency to go down the sacrificial route. This time the cause is a little more worthy than just getting a free bacon cheeseburger.

Alicia Keys is leading the likes of Lady Gaga, Usher and Justin (I invented Napster) Timberlake in raising awarenesss on World Aids Day (this coming Wedensday) for the Keep A Child Alive charity. The stars are pulling the plug on their online selves in a campaign called Digital Self Sacrifice.

Is it for good? No, although they’re each recording final testimonies (nice touch), the kiss of life will be the moment the charity reaches its $1million target. Once they hit this threshold, the celebs get their digital selves back.

Gaga has nearly 24 million Facebook fans and 7 million followers on Twitter, so this feels like a tidy little of achieving a bucket-load of awareness..
