…and for my next trick!

February 11, 2011

Fresh out the womb, the xx are already being hailed as the future of British music and fast becoming the poster boys and girl of Viceland. For such a nascent outfit, they’ve done remarkably well to traverse the tricky ground between mainstream hit and edgy unconventionalism without losing face in either mirror. So going forward, no pressure….what do you do?

You single out your production wizard (Jamie) and get him to collaborate with Gil Scott Heron. A masterstroke from XL’s Richard Russell. Getting in with an icon of GSH’s ilk will add yet another string to the xx bow. So much so, it’s beginning to resemble a harp. And sounds just as good too.

Sexy album out on the 18th of this month.
